BOROUGH SEEKING TO FILL HARB
SEAT The Borough of
Gettysburg is seeking volunteers interested in filling a
vacancy on its Historic Architectural Review Board (HARB).
The vacancy was created when long-time member Elwood
Christ retired at the end of his term.
"We are looking for
candidates who have some knowledge or interest in historic
architecture and preservation and/or knowledge of
construction techniques related to preserving historic
structures," said Susan Naugle, Chair of Borough Council's
Human Resources Committee "HARB plays a critical role in
preserving the rich history and 'look and feel' of our
historic community."
HARB is a seven-member
board that meets monthly to review applications for
exterior modifications to buildings located in the
Borough's Historic District and to recommend approval or
denial to Borough Council. Board Members are appointed by
Council for five-year terms. The term of the current
vacancy will end in August 2016. Residency in the Borough
is not a requirement for membership on the HARB.
Persons interested in
being considered for the position are asked to submit a
Volunteer Application. Applications are available by
